Beloved local dies in climbing accident

Longtime local Scott Sederstrom, 44, passed away in a climbing accident on Friday, March 13 in the Owens River Gorge. East Side friends remember him as a genuine, caring, and spiritual man, always living in the moment and up for the next adventure as he climbed and skied through life while working as a nurse at Mammoth Hospital.

Local climber Scott Sederstrom dies in Owens Gorge climbing accident

A Paradise Estates man, Scott Sederstrom, 44, was declared dead on March 14 after he fell while climbing in the Owens Gorge area near Bishop, according to the Mono County Sheriff's Department.

T.O.T. revenues up significantly over last year … too bad last year sucked.
As of this week, Mammoth’s Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) numbers reflect a surprising upward trend from last winter, with TOT collection from June 2014 to January 2015 coming in $401,645 ahead of budget, and $918,023 above last year’s TOT for the same time period.

Foot chase, unrelated death of another individual give rise to sirens Monday afternoon

A Texas man who led police on a wild chase through Mammoth and reports of an unrelated death of another man, most likely due to natural causes, at about the same time yesterday sent sirens wailing and cops running on the afternoon of March 16 before the foot chases subject was finally caught.

Fire season is here; unattended campfire burns one acre near Big Pine

A one-acre fire in Big Pine Tuesday night, March 3, was the result of an unattended campfire just west of School Street, across from Blake Street, according to CalFire, who took on management of the fire. The unattended campfire caused a one-acre blaze that CalFire, with the assistance of the Big Pine Fire Department, was able to contain at the one-acre size.

In response to “Feeling The Squeeze” and comments from Town Mgr. Dan Holler and Sierra Holiday Mobile Home Park Manager Lonnie Newbry, I would like to first say to Dan you claim that rent control would be a “nightmarish issue.” You also claim that the Riverside ordinance that I presented doesn’t really apply because they have so many more park than we do. I still don’t understand the reasoning behind that comment. I used the Riverside ordinance as an example because it’s simple.
